Diana Lea Canon Somers

June 28, 1930 - October 8, 2017

Diana Lea Canon Somers, age 87, passed away October 8, 2017, in Council Bluffs.

Diana was born June 28, 1930, in Henderson, Iowa, to the late Bert and Marjorie Canon and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. After graduation, she operated a dance studio with her sister Ramona. For 20 years, she was employed at Iowa School for the Deaf as the activities director and Dean of Girls.  She worked at the school from 1971 to her retirement in 1989.  Diana Lea loved all things outdoors, including camping, boating, skiing and hiking. She loved collecting things, especially Native American artifacts, and enjoyed them in her very own tipi. But most of all, Diana loved her family. She will be missed, but her memory will live on in all of us.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Marjorie Canon.

Survivors include son, Bill (Colleen) Somers; sister, Ramona (John) Crookham; grandsons, Jake, Zach (Tabbatha) and Nick Somers; great granddaughters, Sydney, Dakota and Indigo.

Private graveside services was held. Memorials for Diana can be made to the charity of your choice.
