Bonita Dee (Reis) Kutzner

January 10, 1933—September 2, 2018


Bonita Dee Kutzner, age 85 of Buffalo, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was born January 10, 1933 in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Dewey and Vivian (Schneider) Reis.

Bonita attended the Iowa School for the Deaf. She lived most of her younger life in the Des Moines, Iowa area and in 1967 she moved to Minnesota. She later moved to Iowa in 1975, and again moved to Minnesota in 2005 until the time of her passing.

While in Iowa, Bonita attended the Des Moines Church for the Deaf and was involved with the Deaf Social Club in Iowa. She was also on a women’s bowling league for many years while in Iowa.

Bonita was a professional fur seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, playing games, embroidery, cooking, tending to her flower garden, animals and her pets, and time spent with family and friends.

Bonita was a very sweet lady and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Kutzner; sons, Richard, Timothy and Joel; and siblings, Wallace, Richard, Enid, Emma Lee.

Bonita is survived by her daughters, Rose (Robert) Kircher, Jane (Robert) Shaffer; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Jones; grandchildren, Timothy (Stacey) Nichols, Stephanie (James) White, Andrew (April Batcheller) Shaffer, Kathryn (David) Shaffer-Holmberg, Jacqueline Jones, Joshua (fiancée, Leslie) Jones; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Timary, Aaron, Jayden; great-great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jase, Sarah, Mariah, James; brother, Dewey (Sharon) Reis; and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, Minnesota. Burial was held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Casket bearers are Bonita’s grandchildren: Timothy Nichols, Stephanie White, Andrew Shaffer, Kathryn Shaffer-Holmberg, Jacqueline Jones, Joshua Jones.
