Claire Maureen Gossen

Claire Maureen Gossen, age 83, passed away on September 21, 2017, in Olathe, KS. She was born on November 2, 1933, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Maureen Elizabeth McMahon and George Franklin Thomas.

Claire attended Iowa School for the Deaf. She married Frank Cecil Gossen on October 2, 1954, and they shared 36 years of marriage. Together they had four children whom Claire stayed home to raise.

Upon moving to Kansas City, MO in 1997, Claire became an employee of Experience Works, where she served for 13 years before retiring. She had a passion for life, her Savior Jesus Christ, and her family. Claire’s hobbies included knitting and painting. Her passing has been preceded by her parents, husband, and daughter Shirley Jean Gossen. Claire is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marilyn Ann Higgins (and her husband Larry) of Kansas City, MO; son Frank Cecil Gossen of Mesa, AZ, and son Jerry Lee Gossen (and his wife Becky) of Des Moines, IA. Claire’s legacy also includes 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Monday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Deaf Liberty Baptist Church, located at 7910 W. 75th St., Overland Park, KS 66204, and the burial took place in Des Moines, Iowa, on Tuesday, September 26th at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, located at 7601 Fleur Dr. Des Moines, IA 50321
