Marjorie Agnes Eckstrom

February 23, 1925 - March 18, 2016

Marjorie Agnes Eckstrom passed away on March 18, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Omaha, NE.

Marjorie was born in North Dakota, Adams County, Spring Butte twp. at the home of her parents Edith W. (Banneit) and Nels O. Leiren on February, 23, 1925. She attended Devils Lake N.D. School for the Deaf until her family moved to Council Bluffs and graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in 1948. Her education continued at Barnes Beauty School and after graduating she worked there, in their salon.… Her career continued as a beautician at Constantino Salon. Marjorie retired at National Indemnity after 35 years of service in 2005. Throughout her life and also in retirement Marjorie enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting and was a very talented artist.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Marjorie leaves behind her son Dennis G. Eckstrom (Omaha), daughter Mary S. Volkmann and husband Tad (Omaha), son Philip J. Eckstrom Sr. and wife Linda (Alpharetta, GA); her sister, Wilma E. Leiren, (Council Bluffs); grandchildren, Alexander G. Hostetter, Benjamin A. Hostetter, Samuel E. Hostetter, Philip J. Eckstrom Jr., Hunter W. Eckstrom; step-grandchildren, Shannon B. Wilkerson and husband Phil, Amalie M. Otto and husband Christopher, Bryan W. Volkmann; step-great grandchildren, Leah Beth and Haley Elizabeth Wilkerson. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews who morn her loss with us.

There will be a memorial service for Marjorie Eckstrom (February 23, 1925-March 18, 2016) on April 9th at 2 p.m.   The memorial service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 313 Story St., Council Bluffs, Iowa.
