Billy Mariman Chapman

January 22, 1926—April 11, 2021

Billy Mariman Chapman age 95, passed away April 11th 2021 at the Florence Home in Omaha.

Billy was born January 22, 1926 in Woodbine Iowa to the late Chancey and Bertha (Corwin) Chapman and proudly served his country during WWII with the US Coast Guard Merchant Marines.

Billy worked at the power plant and for ISD for 27 years, retiring in 1984.

Through his 95 years, Billy had many hobbies and talents, such as restoring cars, trucks, boats and loved to build and race mini and micro race cars. He even constructed a diving helmet to explore the bottom of Lake Manawa. Billy was an inventor and master of many trades.

He loved his dogs and handled every kind of animal including monkeys. He could often be found at auctions and garage sales. He longed to be back at sea on a big ship.

His greatest asset was never meeting anyone he couldn't carry on a conversation with.

We will miss his many stories of past experiences and adventures.

Billy was one of a kind. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Barritt.

Survivors include his three children, Debbie Chapman, Donald Chapman, Raejean (Ron) Clifton, 6 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren, brother Chancey L. Chapman, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services Saturday April 17) at 10 a.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Rainbow Post #2.
